Free Nintendo Switch Games
Whether you’re looking for free games for your Nintendo Switch or just looking to find out what’s new in the Nintendo Switch library, we’ve got you covered.
Pokemon Quest
Earlier this month, the Pokemon Company surprised us with the release of Pokemon Quest on the Nintendo Switch. The latest in a line of games will let you play the Pokemon franchise on your terms.
The Pokemon Company’s latest game is a voxel-style action-adventure game starring 151 first-generation Pokemon. You’ll need to go on expeditions, collect loot, befriend other blocky Pokemon, and fight wild Pokemon. The game is free, though there’s a small price to pay for the items you get.
It’s not quite as deep as the main series Pokemon RPGs, but it’s more than adequate to fill the void left by Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu!
Brawlhalla
Originally published on Steam Early Access on April 30, 2014, Brawlhalla has since been released on various platforms. It’s a free platform fighting game that offers local and online competition. Players can also join casual free-for-alls and custom rooms with friends.
Brawlhalla has an extensive roster of playable characters. Each fighter is unique, with a different set of attack types. Every match is an epic test of strength.
Brawlhalla supports up to eight players locally and online. Each player has two weapons at their disposal: spears, axes, rocket lances, and swords. In addition, players can pick up and charge up heavy attacks.
Fall Guys
Previously released on PlayStation 4 and PC, Fall Guys is headed to the Nintendo Switch, where players can enjoy a battle royale game without spending a dime. It’s one of those games that looks good, feels good, and is suitable for sneaking in some extra fun on the go.
The game has been given a massive rework and some new content. Fall Guys features an innovative free-for-all mode and several unique ways. The game also offers cooperative challenges.
Fall Guys is free to play, and new players can purchase a new Season Pass to unlock new levels. This will be available with new in-game currency called Show-Bucks. It will also include a handful of cosmetic items.
Apex Legends
Developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts, Apex Legends is a free-to-play, battle royale-style shooter. It features an innovative gameplay mechanic, strategic squad play, and an ever-growing roster of legendary characters.
The first-person shooter game features cross-platform play, but the Switch version lacks cross-saving, cross-progression, and cross-device compatibility. Respawn offers double XP for two weeks however, for those who want to jump in and play. The Switch version of the game also features a free, limited-time, Legendary Pathfinder skin.
It’s also a bit of a performance hit. The UI doesn’t work well on handheld devices, and the textures are so low-res that they make it hard to see enemies when you’re right up close.
Destiny 2
Unlike the original Destiny, which was strictly for PC, the sequel is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The main game is a free-to-play affair that has been pared down. Again, unlike the original, you’ll be able to play the game solo or co-op. There are also a couple of expansion packs to choose from. One, called Shadowkeep, kicks off Year Three of the series, while the other, called Curse of Osiris, adds a new storyline. Whether you’re playing on your own or with friends, Destiny 2 is a fun and engaging game.
Yu-Gi-Oh!
Among the many new games out for Nintendo Switch, the Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel has been making a lot of noise in the gaming community. It’s free to download, features over 10,000 cards, and offers an online matchmaking feature.
The game’s main draw is online matchmaking, which pairs players with similar skill levels. The game also allows players to earn experience points. These points can be used to purchase more crystals in the shop. This will enable players to get more levels in the battle pass.
The game is very well designed, offering quality deck-building mechanics and intuitive dueling. It also features a standout solo mode. In addition, it has colorful visuals and sound effects.
Warframe
Until late last year, Warframe was considered a “pie in the sky” endeavor. However, the game has evolved into a solid online title. It’s free to play, and there are many online elements to keep it fresh. In addition, the game’s mod system allows players to customize their characters with more than 300 weapons.
Warframe is a third-person online action game. It’s set in an evolving sci-fi world. Players take the role of alien cybernetic ninjas. They travel through space and explore massive open worlds. They can also join with friends to fight hordes of enemies.
